With the days being longer and sunshine a plenty, it's become harder and harder to get any real work done. I've been trying to find multiple excuses just to step outside. The weather is just gorgeous, and watching the day pass me by from inside doesn't feel right at all. I just want to soak up all the springy goodness.
I spent today watching re-runs of embarrasingly bad, tacky reality MTV shows in the morning, baking cookies in the afternoon, and napping in the evening. I just got up from a 3 hour nap. One can assume that these are all signs of major procrastination. With piles of uncompleted work, a midterm to study for on Tuesday, and zero motivation, it's enough to tell you that I'm possibly procrasting. Just..possibly. My mind is already on spring break mode.
Lily got me listening to old school R&B again, particularly Boyz II Men. I'm missing "Motown Philly," so if anyone happens to have it on mp3, send it my way please! I'm missing out on that hotness. I'm afraid to admit to having never owned any of their cds, but I did own an album on cassette. It was one of my very first casette tapes (that, and the collection of classic Disney songs.. ahem..), and probably the highlight of my music collection. I've misplaced it a long time ago but if I still had that cassette tape, I'd pop it into my car because my car is so awesome that it only plays casette tapes. High roller, right here.
I remember making actual mix tapes of my favorite radio singles. Those old mix tapes made for some semi-pleasant road trips memories. My sister and I got really good at stopping it right before the DJ came on. It was a skill getting that timing down. With our finger on the stop button, our hearts were pounding with anxiousness to stop it right before the DJ started yapping. The key was to try to milk the song as long as you could before you'd hear some random ad for a mattress store. I'm pretty sure one of those mix tapes had Monica's "Before You Walk Out of My Life" and some random Brandy songs. They were both the shit at the time, but I think I was more of a Monica fan. If you happen to have said Monica song, then please send that too. Think of this as an old-school R&B music fund. I am in need of the old school music funds.
Question: what is your favorite Boyz II Men song? And if you don't have one because you never liked them, then well.. something is horribly wrong with you. I can't really decide since they're all really good, but if I had to choose, I would say "Motown Philly, "4 Seasons of Loneliness," and their cover of "Yesterday." Yes those are three favorites, but whatever. The first one is just catchy and fun, the latter are both the definition of harmonizing perfection.
