today was my day off and i spent it doing what i do best--being a lazy mofo. i don't know where and how the day went by so fast when the tasks i accomplished don't even amount to much at all. this morning, i had my regular teeth cleaning check up at the dentist, stuffed myself silly at an indian buffet for lunch, accompanied my mom to three different chinese supermarkets, and ended my errands with an hour long afternoon nap. and now it's 8:30pm, and i'm listening to some sweet swedish indie pop. it's been a good day.
i haven't updated in a month, but since my last post, a few new things have happened here and there. the boyfriend has left for india, but for the most part, i've been able to find myself in the good company of my ladies. it's only been a week, but it's such a foreign feeling of not being able to talk to him as often as i'd like. but i'm trying to keep myself busy, so things are fine. i received an email from him two days ago, and those few sentences alone made me so happy. it's like there really is life on mars--err..in this case, india. love from india! and now, i wait for a reply and a postcard that will probably take weeks to arrive.
exciting news: so remember that magazine i mentioned a few entries back in spring? well, it's official. my name and work has been published and printed among the other hundreds of glossy magazine pages. and remember that album cover for the aforementioned band? well that debuts as of next thursday so i'll be getting the second pay installment and a few copies of that later. i'm not posting pictures of the album until it's released for the band's sake. but it looks like i'll be doing more work for the dimes after this album releases. exciting!
slightly exciting news: i'm the lead designer at work now. head honcho of the design team right here, what what! this probably doesn't actually mean much except that i'll be dealing with more work than i already and have more responsibilities for seniority sake (aka for being old and crusty and knowing how to work the ginormous printer). i suppose this gets a half yay?
not so exciting news: i start school as of next thursday, august 23rd. i can already feel the pangs of design constipation stemming from the constant slave drive of my professors this year. i'm going to have my ass kicked as far as canada this time, i'm sure. but that's only two more excruciatingly difficult semesters and then i'll be out in the real world to join the masses and learn to fend for my own. i'm glad i still have some time before that. school keeps feeling like a looming storm overhead, ready to plunder down on me. summer vacation is ending and i'm kinda sad about it, but that doesn't stop me from dreaming about fall fashion.. mmm.. what a beautiful of time of year.
