Does anyone remember Talkboy? It just popped up in my head as I was driving to school this morning. I've always wanted one.. I mean, it just looked so snazzy and clever, especially when Macaulay Culkin used it in Home Alone. Classic! And man, when those voices warped... GENIUS! If I ever wanted to be one of those students that bring tape recorders to class to record lectures, I'd invest in a Talkboy instead because I need to make everyone jealous of my ultimate Talkboy coolness.
I've been so tired. Work everyday + school everyday = dead Amy. I spend large, unhealthy amounts of time in front of my laptop day and night. It's amazing that I haven't even formed some sort of ass mold into my chair by now. I'm feeling a little more grown up now because now if I want to leave a conversation with someone, I can say, "hey sorry I gotta go, I have to meet with a client." Clients! Yes, that's plural. Plural because I have two freelance/contract jobs going on right now. Back when I was looking for freelance work, nothing was coming my way. But when I'm not looking, that's when the offers come in. And now, I am exhausted. My battery is dead, and recharging with sleep doesn't help much. I get my suggested eight hours of sleep every night, and yet it never feels sufficient. I think I just need to hibernate all winter long like a bear... in a cave. Yes. That's what I need to do.
Another reason to love my job:
I get to make concert posters! Most recently, I made an indie rock poster for one particular band who happened to love what I made (listen to "Catch Me Jumping." That one is my particular favorite). I am now in the midst of making business cards with plans to drop them like it's hot. They have a CD debut coming out soon with no album cover made.. and umm..well, I'm willing to do some work! Ain't no shame in being a desperate design student looking for work.. shoot.
By next Wednesday evening, I will be off on a plane to be in the company of my long distance lover where we will spend our weekend exploring Sandy Eggos for new eats. The food scene kind of sucks in SD, but we try. And on Friday, we'll be at an amazing concert with instrumental music played with guitars by these guys. Good music + attemptive food tour = the grood life.
